Yahoo doesn't have a vendetta against USC.
Yahoo is doing most of the investigation because the NCAA really cannot do anything. Since he is no longer under NCAA rules and such, they have no authority over him. Bush knows he did something wrong, USC knows he did something wrong and are trying to cover up their role in Bush's actions.
The lawsuit Lake brought against Bush this week will open the door for the NCAA to investigate what Bush and company did during the time he was at USC. Since this new break in the story, the NCAA has been hamstringed because Bush is telling them to take a hike, the other partner from the marketing company settled with Bush (for a payout) and signed a confidentiality agreement (a secret agreement not to discuss our illegal activities with the PoPo). Since no one has been talking, not much has happened....until this week.
Unless Bush coughs up some cash quick for Lake....USC will be in deep sh*t.
Bush took money while he was at USC. Big No no.
Bush's family took a house from the marketing company. Big no no.
The other allegations of him taking hotel rooms, vehicles, etc. Big no no's.
It sounds like USC knew pretty much everything that was going on, which is why they have been uncooperative. Even if they had nothing to do with Bush or his family receiving illegal gifts, they still have the duty to watch their student-athletes. They failed to do this and will be punished severly down the road for lack of oversight. When you know little Johnny or (in this case Reggie) comes from a family with low to moderate income and all of a sudden little Johnny (Reggie) starts playing well and move into a million dollar home....the alarm bells should start going off. Alabama or some place in the south was hit hard by the NCAA for a player back in the early 80s from taking gifts (believe a few thousand) while at a grocery store and lost a lot of scholarships. Two Oklahoma players were kicked off their team a while ago for working at a car dealer and receiving gifts while there. Oklahoma self reported the info to the NCAA and they were punished. To bad for USC, but they may just set the new standard for punishment for what happens once the investigation is over.
These actions make him ineligible to play in college football. If everything comes to light and it is verified that this did indeed happen; the Heisman committee could take away Bush's heisman since he would no longer be eligible to receive it. USC's BCS championship could be taken away by the BCS since they fielded an ineligible player. Their AP national championship could be taken away by the AP as well. Depending upon how damaging info USC may be forced to turn over; they are looking at a large deduction of scholarships, playing home games in an empty stadium, no bowl games, AND up to the NCAA death penalty (no team for 5 years).
Yahoo just happens to have some journalists who are investigation what they have found to be a credible story and are trying to bring it to the public's attention. They will get the credit for finding the smoking gun which proves USC and Bush are/were cheaters.
Journalists are suppose to find stories, research them, and air them to the public.....unless you just watch Fox news or maybe CBS.
Personally I hope its the death penalty for USC football.

I hear about it a lot in Detroit. I suppose it is closely related to the situation we had at the University of Michigan. Personally, I think USC should forfeit all games he did play in if he did in fact take the money. That was what Michigan did. I have seen things about it on local news, CNN, and several sports channels. I am not looking for it but it always seems to pop up, even on the radio. It would be difficult for USC to give up all those wins and the national title, but Michigan did give up its banners and wins from their basketball program. USC football is in much better shaped than the Michigan basketball program though, they would still be good if they did those sanctions on themselves.

If Yahoo is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, then the sports writer for Yahoo is either a Cal or Stanford fan who hates USC. Of course they are going to be biased against USC, and not post anything good about 'SC on the website.
Go to Los Angeles Times for more positive press.

When you are on top and there are any hints of cheating, you will be scrutinized more than anyone else. Being a Miami fan, I know. Miami cheated and was caught and penalized. I've heard rumors from sources other than Yahoo about possible USC penalties. Standby--

If there is truth to the story, then they will be able to claim that they were the ones who broke it. Then ESPN will have to give credit to Yahoo! whenever they mention it. That's about it. But, I respect them for doing a good investigation, rather than letting something like this slip into obscurity.
