Nemesis was NOT discovered by Muller. He suggested it as a possible reason for the extinctions that take place every approximately 26 - 30 million years. It is unprovable until such an object is known to exist. Therefore, it doesn't matter who believes it. If they choose to, then they do so without evidence.

It sounds like another crackpot or unscrupulous panic merchant has now linked that name up with the so-called Mayan calendar, which itself has become linked to the unrelated Nibiru belief of the Sumerians.

Bring back the the "Moon - sized Mars" hoax; at least it doesn't scare anyone.compar

Take a closer look at this website disclaimer:

Disclaimer: Please note that this is a non-scientific site, the content is a mix of Science and Intuition and Mythology. If you consider Science, and Science alone, to be the only source of true knowledge, you might want to surf elsewhere. But if you have an open mind, you are more than Welcome to join me in a humble Reflection on the Nibiru mystery.

The subject of Nibiru is based upon ancient Sumerian mythology. It represented the planet Jupiter to the Sumerians. It was not until Zacheria Stitchin wrote a book based upon the scrolls in a similar fashion as Erik Von Daniken wrote about ancient astronauts in the 1970's which were later discredited by scientists.

Some die-hards accepted Stitchin's work as fact and the whole account of Nibiru and it's people were developed.

There are many things that exist on the internet. Some things such as Nibiru are presented as fact when it is actually fiction. Let's face it, some people will believe just about anything to make life seem more interesting or fascinating than it really is.

One should excercise caution and good judgement when surfing. If you are searching for science, seek out science-based sites instead of new age psychic sites for your information.

The topic is currently in revival because of 2012 disinformation. Proper research will reveal that there were also claims that Nibiru was supposed to pass by Earth in 2003.

There were papyrus scrolls existing 3600 years ago which were incorporated into the Bible. Why would these scrolls fail to mention Nibiru. It would have surely been a bigger story than that of Moses.

Dark Star Theory

The web site you linked to is typical crackpot junk (it refers to Velikovsky and Sitchin as respectable when they've been debunked many times before).

The actual Nemesis theory (the one that people won't try to put you in a mental asylum for mentioning) has an orbit of millions of years, not 3600 and was invented to explain mass extinctions not false beliefs of pre-scientific peoples'.

The actual Nemesis (which would probably be a brown dwarf if it exists) might exist (though I don't think it necessary to explain anything and we certainly haven't found it) but the object that web site describes is impossible (the very strange orbit just can not physically exist).

It is also wrong to claim that the sun has an Iron core, that kind of thing would make the sun look very different to what we see in the sky.

I'm becoming quite concerned at just how many people seem to have been taken in by this Nibiru/Planet x/Nemesis rubbish. It really does make me question the intelligence of the general public if so many people are prepared to accept these claims without a shred of real scientific proof.

Nemesis was discovered by a scientist named Richard Muller in 1983. It supposedly orbits the sun every 26 million years in the reaches of the solar system. It causes mass extinction when it does every 26 million years, such as the dinosaurs. Its a common red dwarf star.

I believe in Nemesis the dark star completely.

I also believe in astrology, that humns tamed dinosaurs, Atlantis and that the face on Mars is really an evil civilisation. And did I mentin astrology....?

If someone could prove it exists - I mean real proof, not stories and hype - then I would believe it.

Show me some form of observation or detection with any instrument (infrared, ultraviolet, visible light).
Show me the gravitational effects on other objects in the solar system (if its there it HAS to gravitationally affect the Kuiper Belt objects, the planets, the asteroids).
Show me proof - scientific, testable, objective, observable, reliable.

No one with any type of solid background in the sciences is going to believe the 'Nemesis' theory.

Reeking havoc?
Is it supposed to smell bad, too?
If a rogue neutron star were to pass through our solar system, it certainly would WREAK havoc, but it just isn't going to happen.
Not in our lifetimes, or our children's, or grandchildren's, ad nauseum.

Nemesis could be any one of 5000 stars. So take your pick.
