My doctor suggested I switch from Ortho-tri cyclen Lo to Levora. I've been on Lo for over a year and a half and I've never experienced the bloating, breaking out or weight gain that is usually associated with birth control.
He said to dispose of the placebo pills, making it so that I have no period at all. Is this normal/safe?
I've tried to look online to find some info, but I haven't gotten much.
Can anyone tell me the side effects of Levora, and whether or not I'll experience a big difference? Anything would be of assistance.
Thanks.

In relation to skipping the placebo pills and going on to a new pack of pills after finishing one pack is normal for some if they are having medical problems like endometriosis. This is the way I take my birth control pills. It can take about 6 months to fully adjust to taking the pill in this fashion because the body is so used to having a period.

As part of the adjustment process there may be a bit of breakthrough bleeding. Breakthrough bleeding is a kind of bleeding that occurs at other times during the month that acts a lot like menstrual periods but isn't.

To find out even more about this way of taking the pill and also on Levora is a link that may be of help. The link is at: http://forums.obgyn.net/womens-health
