The reality that this team starts fast, and fizzles at the end?

Probably not................they will probably use the injuries as an excuse for a temporary deflation to get closer to earth. Once they start playing teams like Detroit, and Calgary and Vancouver are full steam ahead.....I see more falling.

I originally picked Minnesota to be 4th in their division and 8th in the conference, and their fast start didn't sway me.

C'mon Bob------------you knew they were coming

Not sure what "reality" you're referring to since "the end" doesn't come after a dozen or so games. MN has a loyal fan base (every home game a sell-out since game 1), so I don't get the "band wagon" comment that was made.

The Wild are still a pretty young team. Yes, there are injuries, but if they had nothing for talent to offer after the first line, then I think the score would've been a lot worse than 4-2 when they played the Penguins.

Four losses in a row sucks, but it happens to other teams as well. You can't blame MN fans for being excited when their team is doing well. They aren't going to come on here and say "Man, I love the Wild! They really suck now, don't they?" Give me a break....no one comes on here to b**ch about their favorite team/s.

Like others have mentioned: It's only been 12 games! It's barely November for Pete's sake. I don't think we should write them off yet.

Let's talk about this subject again when it's time for the All Star break. If the Wild is still being held down by injuries and losses then, maybe the trip to reality is what you make it out to be.......Until then, I'm anxious to see how they do. I really think people underestimate them.

We'll see.

First we have to hear about how incredible they are because they had a good start... now we have to hear about how terrible they are because it didn't continue...

Fizzles at the end ? They've played 12 games... and lead in their division... oh not to mention Marian Gaborik and Pavol Demitra and Goatender Niklas Backstrom all missed the game. I doubt Pittsburgh would have been so fierce had Crosby, Malkin and Fleury not shown up for the game due to injuries... of those 4 games, 3 were played without their starting Goaltender, the one he played in being where he got injured (They went from winning 3-0 to losing 5-3 over the last 2 periods). They allowed 17 goals during the last four games and only 11 goals in the other 8 games... I think its safe to say the injuries are having a negative effect.

How about waiting for them to get healthy again before commenting on a few losses.

We started fast last season, sure, but if "fizzling at the end" means making the playoffs again the Wild can "fizzle" away!

I still love the Wild and I have faith that they will bounce back. Frankly I like everyone underestimating this team, it just means that when the Wild make the playoffs the victory will be even sweeter!

I haven't heard any fat ladies yet, Go Wild!

Last I checked, they started last season the exact same way, made the playoffs, were 6th for power play conversion and 2nd for penalty kill in the regular season, and did that all without backstrom (because they had manny) or gaborik (injured) for a chunk of the year. This isn't a team that plays with flash, they do the basics and do them well. Most other teams haven't even remembered how to play, when this team flies out the gate in October. Right now, Harding is learning the ways of the NHL. Don't forget, not every goaltender comes into the league NHL ready, Miller took a few months to really get going, for instance. When Harding is ready, they'll look shiny again.

Gaborik seems to be a perpetual theme. The guy hasn't played a full season yet. That said, when he is in the lineup, he's deadly. This team is a defensive-minded group. Add a few potent scorers like Gaborik and Demitra and you have a team that will shut down opponents' offense and wait for their chances. With those two out of the lineup, not only do they lose their offense, but their defensive players have to take chances they wouldn't take and be more aggressive to score. Most teams can stand to lose one player, including the Wild, but with both wingers on you first line out, it's going to hurt anyone.

Good question. Been a few days since I have seen the "Give me one good reason the Wild won't win the Cup?" questions.
My answer always included how fragile they are and it is really showing- groin injuries galore- too many Euros-weak up the middle- no secondary scoring-yada yada yada.....

You speak the truth, but it still hurts!

We have some injuries though, so I'm HOPING that they pull out of their slide in the near future.

I think the fact that Backstrom, Gaborik and Demitra are all down certainly shows how one dimensional the club is. after the first line they got nothing.
