While there are many great players mentioned here, my vote is for the man with the most class (on and off the field).

The man who said "I want to thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee."

Joltin Joe DiMaggio

Career Batting avg. of .325
Played in 10 World Series
In 6821 at bats only struck out 369 times
And still holds the longest hitting streak record in baseball.

Hoyt Wilhelm. He pitched minor league ball until he was 28, after serving in WW II, and still managed to put a HOF career together after getting a late start, and was effective until he was 49 yrs old. You never heard anything bad about him, and he always had the North Carolina farmboy attitude about everything. Just a class guy.

Favorite player of all time is Cecil Fielder. Greatest player of all time I would say is Ty Cobb. Worst player of the best players would have to be Barry Bonds Mr Steroid himself.

My favorite Lineup alltime is

C- Johnny Bench
1B- Cecil Fielder
2B- Joe Morgan
3B- Brooks Robinson
SS- Ernie Banks
LF- Barry Bonds ( I know but you can't ignore numbers, steroids or not.)
CF- Willie Mays
RF- Ty Cobb
SP- Nolan Ryan
RP- Jesse Orosco
CP- Trevor Hoffman

Now please dispute my answers I know you will.

1.Rickey Henderson was my favorite player as a kid.
2.Lou Gehrig although I never saw play was one of these guys that got me into the game of baseball. I checked out a Lou Gehrig book from the library and read about him. He was like this legendary guy who could only be stopped by death. And he liked his mom a lot.
