I think it's beautiful and feminine... but my sister told me thats Hitlers gf...or wife's name. Who the hell knows stuff like that? Did you know that?

I love the name Ava.
Hitler's wife was Eva Braun, and it is not the same name.
Ava was a saint. The name means: "like a bird"
Eva is a variation of Eve, from the Bible, and it means "life".
They are two very different names even though they sound the same! Go with Ava. I also love the name Eva, but it just has a bad connotation to me.

It was Eva Braun, but the name was pronounced the same as Ava. However, I doubt that that will be most people's association with the name. For most of us older folks, the association is with Ava Gardner (an actress) or the wife on "Evening Shade" (a tv show).
For younger folks, it's likely to be remembered as one of the most popular girl's names of the early 21st century.
FWIW, I think it's a pretty name.

I never heard of Hitler's wife being named Ava. I think it might've been Eva? But who cares? Nobody knows that stuff. Ava is a gorgeous name, and just think of how EASY it will be to write her name. I always think of this because I'm a preschool teacher and I'm extremely tired of teaching kids to write their names that have 18 letters.

I think its a lovely name! Who cares if it was Hitler's GFs name! Not many people know that anyways and its not like your naming the child Adolf or something! I really like the name Ava and if you like it then that's all that matters!!

Basically the Americanized version of the spanish "Eva..."
Eva is pronounced "Eh-vah"
Ava is the "Ay-vah"
Who cares if that was the name of Hitler's girlfriend. If you analyzed every name you liked with historical figures, most names would be completely out of the question;)
Just go with the name you like best=)

I think it's a great name, but so do millions of other people who named their kids Ava in the past year. I know 5. It's the new heather.

Eva Braun, not Ava. And yes, I knew that, but it wasn't my first association.
Ava is also a city in Myanmar, a hurricane, a soap opera character and, of course, the famous actress Ava Gardner.
It's a lovely name.
