I am coming to Darwin for 4 weeks in January, plan to spend 5 days in Darwin catching up relatives, then want to get out to explore other parts of the NT, where should I go?

You could try the Parap markets - they're open every Saturday, have a great variety of different foods from different nationalites.

Crocodylus Park is always good to see aswell, and if it's not too rainy - you could try Berry Springs Nature Reserve.

Whatever the weather - have fun when you come up here.

January is right in the wet season. Depending on how much rain has already fallen, roads to places like Kakadu could be closed by floods and they could flood any time. Some of the sights are inaccessible during the wet. Darwin could also get tropical cyclones at that time of year. Sea swimming is out because of the box jellyfish.

Plenty of us will be in Darwin at that time but there aren't too many tourists. Bring an umbrella, it's likely to rain most days but it will be warm and the locals are friendly. There are some excellent pubs too.

It is not the tourist season at that time of year. NT is quiet then. still there is plenty to see and do but you might like to stay under the airconditioner a lot. The museum is good but a lot of attraction are out of town so you will need a car airconditioned of course
