I do NOT mean Eileen. Aileen is the traditional Gaelic spelling.

I like it. I would use the Eileen spelling, but Aileen looks pretty. I also like that there won't likely be a hundred of them in her class without it being a made-up name.

In some Hispanic cultures, Aileen is pronounced "aay-leen"
I personal prefer that pronunciation, but that's just me.

I honestly feel you have chosen a beautiful name and it's not difficult to pronounce or to spell, so you're good to go.

Congratulations.

While Eileen strikes me as dated, I quite like Aileen in its Celtic glory.

And in this age of Kaleighs, Brynlees and Maicees, arguing that the Aileen spelling will be confusing is a bit ridiculous. :)

That was the name of the girl who played Annie in the movie. Aileen Quinn, I believe. Cute.

It's an old-fashioned name that's been around for several generations. It's also spelled, "Eileen, Ilene, and Eilene." If you like old-fashioned names, it's very feminine and reminds me of linen and lace. I like it. I had a cousin with that name, but she spelled it with an "E" instead of "A". Either way is okay, and pronounced the same.

A good Scottish name. I think that spelling gives it a more exotic feel. I like the old Gaelic names. Siobhan is another I like.

Loe the pronunciation, hate the spelling. As a teacher I forsee everyone trying to say it like "ale-leen"

i think its a cute name but i think lots of people would pronounce it "ay-leen" in stead of the traditional Eileen. i figure you're doing the A instead of the E to try and be different but you don't want your daughter to have to go through life constantly correcting people!

It makes me think of Clay Aiken, you know that flamboyant guy from American Idol? And it sounds like a girl's name so if you're naming a boy you might want to change it.

"completely honest opinions" ? OK. I think of trailer trash when I see the name Aileen because of Aileen Wuornos, female serial killer, skanky hooker.
