No, Salt and Pepper sounds too white bread and much less "in effect".

Salt and pepper were 2 english sisters in the 80s 1 of them died of cancer so perhaps there is a copy write on the name

I don't think the way the name was spelled would have mattered, but I think it's better as Salt N Pepa, becuase it fits their genre of music better.
