As noted in previous answers, the play "Romeo and Juliet" is officially attributed to William Shakespeare, an actor who performed in London in the late 1500s/early 1600s. Of course, there is a lot of debate as to whether the actor William Shakespeare was actually the writer of all the materials attributed to him.

As for the original source of the materials, as noted in other answers, there are a lot of literary threads that the writer "borrowed" from, and most of those threads in turn borrowed from even older sources. Of course, that is part of the history of great literature with their being very few truly original ideas but the greatness coming from the use made of those concepts.

I have never heard of Romeo and Joleet... perhaps you mean Romeo and Juliet? In that case, clearly William Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet.
Are you referring to the idea that he may have stolen them major plot line from someone else?

Romeo and Juliet is from shakesphere, and is based upon an Italian tale, except it concerned the Gulf and the Guillibee, and some of his sorces were The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet by Arthur Brooke.
