It the British Empire had remained intact, including all of North America, then none of the nonsence which is happening to day would ever have taken place. The Middle East would be firmly in the grip of the Empire - a benign non or semi-democratic arrangement wherein people would be allowed to elect their own leaders and government, but wherein overall control of such as oil and other majors would be firmly controlled.
There would be far less corruption in the world and Africa would not have continuous outbreaks of war and famine and death as it does now and which it hardly ever suffered under colonial rule.
Problem is everyone wants to rule themselves and the rot started in the 18th century with the American and then French Revolutions, both of which gave people bad ideas about how to go about the business of self government.
Look at it like this. Under the benign dictatorship of HM King George III, the citizens of Boston Mass paid on average about one pound [English] in tax every year. Meanwhile here in London a citizen would have paid £26 a year in tax.
Following the Revolution in the American colonies, tax went up and not down and lots of other very bad things happened including a massive increase in the slave trade and so on.
While George Washington et al, spouted on about 'freedom, liberty and democracy', he had 12 black slaves in his house. HM King Geo III thought that slavery was an abomination which should be abolished.
While all this was going on the Methodists and their anti-slave movement got going finally to be lead by the world famous anti-slave campaigner Wm. Wilberforce who's anti-slavery Bill finally got passed in the House of Commons a mere 200 years ago in 1807.
Black Americans [African Americans] are having to re-start their 'freedom' campaign right now in the USA. It is widely known here in UK that Black Americans are much more likely to end up doing jail than their white counterparts, including even for minor offences.
Americans do not have the freedom and liberty which they so loudly claim to have. Black Americans certainly do not.
It is an imperfect world, but the continuation of the British Empire might have made the world just that little bit better.
If anyone wants to know what the British Empire was like, ask anyone in India today what they think of the British Raj. They lament it's passing and teach of it's history and glory in all the schools of India today.
India, the Jewel in the Crown. I love you all.
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN.

All of the countries and religions of the world would have seen the errors in their way and surcomed to British Rule.
War would have come to an end and the world would now live in peace.
English would be the language of the world and Americans would be forced to "clean up their act" and speak correctly.
British scientific intelligence would have found a cure for cancer by now and the economy of the world would run on the pound sterling.
The only draw back for the British Empire would be that The last two Prime Ministers would have been Benny Hill and John Cleese, but hey, we can live with that can't we?
g-day!

I do wish some people would not use words like 'gobshite' in a serious discussion! The basic reason for Britain giving up her empire was money - Britain was broke after WW 2 and couldn't afford the military manpower to suppress all the independence movements that were springing up. You could also say it was the 'spirit of the age', allowing local government, as was happening throughout the world, e.g. French colonies.

We would have run out of money for a start not all the Empire paid its way , we subsidised huge amounts of it ,it was a burden we had to drop after world w11. As we had used up most of our monetary reserves and sold of massive amounts of our assets to pay for the war

actually the pace of life wouldn't be so hectic. We could be traveling in blimps instead of jets, Jets would be considered just for warfare. Capitalism wouldn't be as over the top as it is now, the Brits have more decorum. Actually the world might be a nicer place to be honest.
