Hello,

1. subtract 3 from both sides and we have sqrt(4x +1) = -3 no solution!

2. subtract 4 from both sides and we have sqrt(2y +7) = y -4 now square both sides giving us 2y + 7 = y^2 -8y + 16 so
0 = y^2 -10y + 9. We have (y-9)(y-1) = 0 so y = 9 or y = 1

Check sqrt(2*9+7) + 4 =? 9 sqrt(25) + 4 =? 9 yes.

sqrt(2*1+7) + 4 = ? 1 no

so the Solution is y = 9

Hope This Helps!.
