That means your battery is dying. It may be low electrolyte but that applies only to old batteries.
And yes, all cars have a device that makes electricity that is used to charge batteries. You can see it by the side on the engine. There is a belt going to its pulley.
If that device (alternator) has worn out carbon brushes or diode/wire breaking then your car will not charge itself.
Also if you have many things like car, bike, boat etc then chances are there that some of these devices would not be used for quite some time and the battery would gradually lose charge. You can charge it by using a Mains connected charger.
Jump starting is just for emergencies. It is not a regular method

The alternator recharges the battery, if the alternator is working right and the battery is good it will recharge in about 20 minutes!

If you have "a battery that needs to be recharged frequently"..you have a problem.
Either the battery or the charging system is faulty.
Take it to some-one to have the charging system checked. If it's OK, you need a new battery, if not,
fix it.

Car battery does not charge itself, it is the alternator that charges the battery while running the engine. If the alternator is not working, it does not charge the battery. If your alternator is working well but your battery discharges frequently, you have to check the battery solution/gel level. Pls. let qualified auto battery shop to check on the battery if it needs replacement. However, if the battery is good, they have to check the alternator. Good Luck!

No the generator does that. The belts run around on a pully which charges the battery. The only thing you really need a battery for is to start the car. the generator keeps it running. You either have a bad cell in your battery and it won't take a charge, or your generator is bad.

it charges so long as the engine is running unless the alternator is bad. So long as the alternator is good it will recharge the battery when it's being turned by the engine.

yes, the battery starts the engine, and as you drive, the engine creates power and transfers it to your battery, therefore recharging it

if your alternator is working correctlly yes it will recarge itself after a boost and if it does not you either have a dead cell in the battery or a fautly alternator if you have a ohm meter a good alternator will have around 14 volts.
