Suppose there were A adult tickets sold. Then the number of child tickets sold is 4A, so the total sales were
(7.25) A + (4.75) (4A)
= 7.25 A + 19 A
= 26.25 A
So we have 26.25 A = 2178.75
and so A = 2178.75 / 26.25 = 83
So the number of adult tickets sold is 83, and the number of child tickets is 4×83 = 332.

im presuming -3 is the gradient of the line 2y - x = 3 y - 3x = 4 double this equation to grant: 2y - 6x = 8 so 2y - x = 3 2y - 6x = 8 subtract base line from applicable line to grant : 5x = -5 x = -a million so putting x into the right equation 2y - - a million = 3 2y = 2 y = a million so as a result x = -a million and y = a million so using y = mx + c y = a million x = -a million m = -3 (gradient) a million = 3 + c so as a result c = -2 and the equation of the line is y = -3x -2

you have
x+x/4=2178.75 thats the value of the tickets sold
now you have from the problem
x=4.75 and y=7.25
substitue into the first equation and solve for x and once you have x just divide by four to get the number of adult tickets
