My old computer surged and the power supply and the motherboard went. everything else is still in good condition. I bought a new computer that has vista on it. (my old pc had XP) I tried dropping the graphics card from my old pc into the new one, its an ATI Radeon 9200. All the drivers for it on the internet are for XP and when I try putting the driver CD in, it gets to the installation and I get an error message

"Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have the required hardware or software."

any ideas?

Try going to the card's manufacturer (like ATI or NVIDIA)'s website, and see if you can find updated drivers for that particular card. Make sure you look at the serial number on the card to download the right drivers. They should have updated them for Vista.

Dumb question...

Did you go into the Control Panel > System > Hardware and see if it has a yellow question mark next to it?

If it does then it needs to be set up. If it doesn't it's already properly installed. The drivers may already be imbedded within Vista.

If it has the yellow questionmark go back to the Control Panel and click on Add Hardware and follow the onscreen prompts.

Hope this helps.

you need to see if there is any vista driver for you card, check the ATI site, even then you might not get all the features from Vista and as such it might turn some feature off ( Like Aero ), and forget about DX10
BTW there is a DX10 patch for XP

You need to identify the model of your graphics card and then visit the mfg web site to check for drivers that are vista compatible.

You need to get the VISTA version installer of the device. You can contact your vendor for this.

doesn't look like it will work in Vista (see 'Operating System Support'):

if you buy a new card, be sure it is compatible with Vista and your CPU...
