I moved out when I was 17 and my mother has been deceased my whole life ( I'm 19 now). My dad kept her dolls and pictures and I was told they were for me but he will not give them to me. He has been remarried since I was like 2, so he has no reason to keep them except to be mean! HELP!

You should be able to find a copy of your mother's will (if she had one) at the courthouse of the county in which she passed away. See what the will says you are entitled to.

You are still quite young. Your father may be concerned that you will not be able to properly store the dolls and pictures, or to care for them.
He may be worried that they will easily be stolen from you.

You should just ask your father what his concerns are. Then you can address them like an adult.

You have to look at the legal facts of your case. When your mother died, was there a Will? Who was the Executor? Did your mother specifically state in her Will that you were to receive these personal belongings of hers? If not, then they are not your property and there is nothing you can do. You can offer to buy them from him. You can always have the pictures reproduced very easily as they have photo quality copiers now and/or photo quality scanners. You can sweet talk him into it - be nice to him, develop a relationship, kiss his butt, and then spring it on him after you have had a relationship for a while. It all depends on how badly you want them.

I am not sure that you can prove that these dolls do in fact belong to you. Your case would be nothing more than your word against his since he clearly will say that he never promised to give these dolls to you. Unless you have something concrete, a note, letter, contract, taped conversation, etc. where he promises these dolls to you, you have no legal argument to receive them.

Unless they were specifically bequeathed to you in your mother's will they do not belong to you and thus you have no legal right to them no matter who told you otherwise. I suggest you respect your father's wishes like an adult and perhaps one day he will change his mind.
