Take counseling sessions and anti-depressants. Lexapro would be your best bet : it has little to no side effects, and it works within a week. I have been taking Lexapro for over a year now. And it works PHENOMENAL. Also, like I said, go to a counselor or take therapy sessions.
=)
I hope this works for you =)

I was able to overcome my depression with medication and talking to people. I didn't go for therapy, I talked my family, friends, and significant other. For some people medication works, others don't. It really comes from a power within yourself. I know it is hard because when you are depressed there really is no motivation to do anything, even feel better. It took me a long time to get over it, but it happened. I'm still on the medication and might be for a long time, but I am happy, and that is what matters. Good luck!

Go see a dr. If you find a passion to do something do it. Give a hug to somebody you love is stress reliever. If you have pet doggy, you can play with it. Read a book on something hilarious or something intriguing like a Stephen King novel. Go surfboarding or for a swim. Exercise and dance and sing. Eat healthy foods to make sure lack of nutrients is not the cause. A dr will be able to perform tests to rule out underlying physical problems. Take a bath and enjoy it. Get a massage from a professional and not from a sleazy parlour. Take up yoga and meditation. However, a therapist can help you get to the root of your problem. You have to listen to the professionals and do what they suggest that will help you.

Start doing things for other people. The more you are alone, the more you are focused on yourself and your problems. Start doing things for yourself, do not stay idle, it'll only make things worse. So get out there, have some fun, meet some people. Join different groups, try new things, etc. I am going through the same thing and understand that the hardest part is starting it but once you get going, you'll be so much more encouraged about everything. Remember happiness is a byproduct not something you can get or chase after. Good luck!

"Depression!";:>.?/<,}{+=_-.... to some people it appears to be like so. We just feel like everything we do turns to a humdrum effect. There is no cure for depression....sorry. So what can we do? Unless the condition is controlling our lives and interfering with our health then we are bound to not acknowledge its presence. Although when suicidal thoughts begin or other extreme thoughts take presedence then seek a doctor right away, I would suggest a mental health evaluation first, then a physician. Depression is really quite common and the best course of action seems to be a combination of medication and talk therapy. Your general practitioner is a good place to start for meds. Don't wait too long to start. Medication takes 3 weeks or longer. Talk therapy will help teach you methods of coping with your underlying problems in the long term

As a fellow sufferer of depression, I must tell you that there are wonderful medications that really work!! Within a few days, you'll be out of that big, black hole. You won't just be going through the motions, and you'll laugh real laughs!!
Be sure to tell your doctor EVERYTHING. That will help him/her decide which med will work best for you. Believe me, you WILL overcome. :)

How does your depression manifest itself? Break your situation into chunks (sleep issues, social anxiety, problems eating) then decide which you want to work on first, possibly with the help of a professional.
Otherwise, the rules of thumb are socialising with nice people, eating healthy and regularly, getting outdoor exercise daily and keeping a rigid sleeping pattern.
