My daughter and her friend just left their job. They have had it with this place. The owners have given bad checks to the employees and have paid them late. They are now about 4 weeks late with the pay so the two decided not to show up for work on Monday and quit. Now the owners are saying that without 2 weeks notice they can pay them at minimum wage for their last 2 weeks there.
Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks in advance for your answers

The Word of God says .. A man that work is worth his wages. Luke 10:7b - The laborer is worthy of his hire.
1Timothy 5:18b - The laborer is worthy of his reward.
Ecclesiastes 5:4, 5.
Read Matthew 18:23-35 This is the story of a man that owed money as well as him being owed by someone else.

I gave you scripture to let you know that God is the Highest Authority and He will see that justice is done through the right channels..

Now this employer will have to come up with the wages or be taken to court for no pay or breech of contract. There are laws that protect the worker. The Local Work Union usually handles these cases. Also call Better Business Bureau or for more information and resources call United Way -211 or 311 Nation Wide. God Bless in this endeavor.

I do not believe that this is legal unless there was a signed contract that stated this condition. Since most employment is employment-at-will, there likely is no written contract of employment to state this condition. This would mean that the employer has little or no legal argument to pay the girls less then their normal wage, which would be in accordance with the implied employment agreement between the girls and the owners.

Depending on how much you are talking about, it may be worth pursuing in small claims court to get the difference. If we are talking about $100-200 don't waste your time in court, but if we are talking $500-1,000 go for it.

they cannot pay them any less than they were making unless it was in a written agreement when they first started working there,of if it is the employee handbook stating so.No way can they punish them just because they quit unless it was made clear in the hiring process in writing.

That's a crock of dung and the owner needs to be reported.
