Information_police: And exactly WHOM is going to end up paying for "FREE" health care? Where is the money going to come from? The sky? Now, walk over to your t.v. set, turn off Oprah, and go to your library to spend some time researching how Hillary's government intends to fund "nationalized health care". EDUCATE YOURSELF FOOL!

information_police: Go back and re-read your response. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. WTF? (let me guess... public school education, right?)

ndgbill-- Ya better sit down pal, you are about to be educated. The "facts" you provide are just great, however if you had bothered to research the REASONS behind the numbers... well, take off your blinders and let me help you pull your head out of the sand:

Canadians live longer because of their vastly different lifestyle choices.
Chriatianity has NOTHING to do with it. Show me where the U.S. Constitution guarantees universal health care please.
Infant mortality rate? (obviously you are not including abortions as well, eh?). Consider that over 70% of all Black births are to unmarried women. FEDERAL LAW MANDATES EMERGENCY CARE!!! Welfare availability, and a bloated, inefficient government funded public school system are to blame-- NOT HEALTH CARE AVAILABILITY, YOU FOOL!
Drugs are researched and developed in this country using a profit driven system, the reason for their high costs however, is because the U.S. taxpayer absorbs costs while Canada (Britain, etc.)

2007-10-31 04:49:14 · update #3

enjoy cut-rate pricing on these drugs. This is flat-out wrong and needs to be reversed. When it is, you will see "your" per-capita expenditures rise dramatically.
On your point of payments going to "for profit" corporations, that is Capitalism working at it's finest, and the free market system guarantees the absolute best products and procedures be developed. The major flaw is in the fact that the rest of the world gets a free ride on paying for it, while the working man in the U.S. pays dearly for YOUR "free health care".
Overhead? Are you friggin' kidding me? If Hillary gets her way, do you think overhead will be reduced? Please. When has any Democrat in recent memory reduced the ranks of individuals on a governmental payroll? These are but a few points to be considered, but I suspect you are too ignorant to see the full story as it exists. You need to wake up to reality pal. Oh, we expect to see you when you can't get a timely procedure done in Canada. Grasshopper.

Hillary Care was expensive and wrong when it was originally proposed and LOST. It hasn't improved with age.

Nothing is free. Besides paying for your own health care with our taxes, we are also paying for the health care of everyone that chooses not to get coverage on their own, including the illegals.

EDIT, hey Joe, why do you think people from other countries come here for health care? Their socialized medicine sucks and people DIE while they are waiting for treatment. I don't think we want that here!

2007-10-30 14:08:50 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

The health care system as it stands right now is costing us lives. Anyone who is not insured and cannot afford to go to the doctor lives with the fear that a disease will kill them because they have no hope to receive care.

Those who oppose socialized medicine need to consider what it would be like to live like that. Those who have the money to get the best treatments don't think about what it would be like if they couldn't afford it.

There are arguments for both sides, absolutely, but I would take health care for every single HUMAN BEING before I tossed some of them aside for the sake of saving a few bucks.

The health care plans proposed in the 2008 elections use the money from Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy. Now, please tell me why rich people can't give up their tax cuts so everyone will have access to health care. The plans ALLOW you to keep your insurance, but they give others a sense of security that they will be able to live out their life even though they don't have money to pay for it themselves.

Society is about give and take. If nobody will give, we are not a democracy. You can't have your money and watch people float to the wayside. This is a democracy, everybody is treated equally. Health care should be considered an equality right under the Constitution of the United States of America.

Aah ,another ignoramus spewing garbage in his "ignorance is bliss " state.

It is YOU grasshopper that needs to EDUCATE YOURSELF :

Start here :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_health_care#Financial_inputs_and_outcomes_compared

Lets use Canada's universal health care as a comparison to the US .

First Canadians live longer and no doubt that that fact is reflective of the fact that all Canadians have health care coverage.

Secondly, for the richest country in the world and one that shoots it's mouth off about being a Christian nation, you have over 46 million citizens with no health care at all.(save the emergeny ward).

Thirdly ,your infant mortality rate is much higher and one of the lowest of all the western developed countries in addition to CUBA.

Fourthly and on the issue of costs, your ignorance is simply offense and you and your ilk keep spreading LIES.

Health care costs for Canadians for all Canadians is only 9.5 % of GNP while in the US ,Americans pay 15.5 % of their GNP on health care.

The bloody health cost in the US is over 50 % more than in Canada and some other western democracies.

On an individual level,Americans pay some $5711.00/year for health care coverage and Canadians pay only $2519.00/year .

Why this huge difference ?? There are three basic reasons:

1.Universal health care is NOT a profit driven system and as a result there are no corporations taking huge profits.

2.Being a universal and SINGLE PAYER system, the Canadian system has extremely low paperwork/overhead costs. As shown in the data in the URL below,it is estimated that an incredible $286 BILLION dolllars can be saved in the paperwork and overhead costs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_health_care#Financial_inputs_and_outcomes_compared

3.As we have a SINGLE PAYER system all of our countries drug prices are negotiated by a central agency with of course HUGE BUYING POWER .The result is that in Canada drug prices FOR EXACTLY THE SAME DRUGS AS IN THE US are on average some 50 % less expensive.

Are you learning anything grasshopper? You should be ashamed of yourself .

Hillary's plan is not a universal single payer system but it is a lot less costly than what Americans are presently paying.

Another FACT that most Americans are not even aware of is that already some 60 % ,YES 60 % , of the US health system IS ALREADY RUN BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Medicare,Child Care etc)

Now grasshopper, apologize to the board for your ignorance and the filthy lies and inferences you made.

Oh yes,one more point.

Canadians DO NOT HAVE FREE HEALTH CARE ,Canadians pay for their health care usually through
earnings deductions SPECIFICALLY EARMARKED FOR HEALTH CARE EXACTLY HOW AMERICANS PAY THEIR HEALTH CARE PREMIUMS .THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT OUR PREMIUMS GO TO OUR GOVERNMENT AND YOUR PREMIUM PAYMENTS GO TO A " FOR PROFIT" CORPORATION "

So STOP trying to demean universal health care by calling it FREE HEALTH CARE because once again you are a friigin LIAR and there is NO other word!!!

ALSO.

Unlike most Americans,ONLY DOCTORS determind what a patient needs be it to see a specialists or anyother issue.THERE IS NO FRIGGIN "BEAN COUNTERS"

Further, Canadians can choose their own doctors unlike most Americans whose HMOs tell you who you can see.

You did ask for my thoughts.

You are absolutely correct. She will pay for the "free" health care by raising our tax dollars. Honestly, does anyone really think the DMV or the Post Office gives you great service? That's exactly how your health care will be if she enacts this crazy scheme.

It is hilarious to see the "health care will magically cost nothing" crowd display their naivete.

Expansion of government services is always expensive. Even if it is free now, it will be structured in a way that costs massively more later. Remember social security?

Our grandkids will live in communal poverty long after we've finished paying for Iraq.

Another reason not to vote for Hillary. Government run health care would be a disaster.

While I think the difference between paid health care provided by insurance and hillary clinton-style health care is a question of semantics (IT'S ALL SOCIALIZED MEDICINE, don't u see! Socialism outsourced to the private sector is socialism nevertheless), her plan, just like what's already in place now...will fail miserably.

Do you think health care is expensive now?

The cost will be small, compared to the billions spent on Bush's war. You know, the war that has pushed the US into its biggest deficit ever.

If we can come up with the money to waste on that war, then we can surely come up with a health care program to help our most vulnerable citizens who desperately need it.

Does our health insurance need to be revamped? Of course, but there is no such thing as "free"..someone is going to foot the bill.

Her plan will lower health care costs for everyone because everyone will be covered and people without insurance won't be getting treated in emergency rooms because they can 't get in to see a doctor.

Educate yourself.
