I know how you feel! I was always horrible in math when I was in school! I had to do the whole tutor thing too. Just concentrate extra hard in your math class and when you are with your tutor. If you have a good teacher, a lot of times they will meet with you before or after school to work on the things that you are struggling with. Since they see your work, they have a better idea of what you need help with. Just ask plenty of questions. You'll get through this I promise! Just hang in there! =)

I completely understand since I also struggle with math. Just the word math makes me nervous. One thing I have learned about myself is that I cannot learn math the way most people do. My brain checks out and cannot follow along. The good thing is that over the years, I have learned what works for me. You need to learn for yourself, which learning method works and hopefully your tutor can help you figure this out. If not, maybe you need a different tutor. One who has been successful at helping others.
Hang in there:)

Me too! I had to choose a major that had nothing to do with math. (I"m a social worker) I took 4 remedial course just to get through Algebra I and Probabilities in college. I would make A's on the chapter test and go into the mid-term and finals and not recognize the problems as something I'd ever seen before. I did get through but it was hard, kept me out of a medical field and some others. So I understand. I don't know the answer, but you aren't the only one, if that helps.

Have that same problem. Have one of your friends take notes and work with you on it. Make sure your friend has an A and have them stay after school or come to your house and help you and answer every single problem. Sometimes tutors don't help because they don't explain things in a kid's/childs/teenagers point of view.

cha, i was like horrible in math all through grade school but then in my freshman year of high school it like just clicked! i totally got it and i love math! but other subjects such as spanish i just hate and are horrible in, you just need to try and pay attention the whole class and see where that gets u! trust me i have been through it!
ps: go and ask for help from your teachers more, they will give you some more points and the stuff that they tell you are the things that you will NEED to kow for tests and quizes! sometimes they just plain out give u the test almost!! it rocks! then the know that your really trying also. Ask for extra credit, even though they dont tell the class about it they will usually give u it if you ask and you need it!

Oh I know how you feel...I used to think i was horrible at math! but then suddenly the light turned on in my mind and it all made sense. When you do math problems/practice(im sure you do right?) make sure you aren't just writing #s down. You need to know why you put that number here, why you multiplied it there. it makes a lot more sense when you know what you're doing, and it makes it easier to solve faster!

Try telling your teacher that you are working hard, but you still aren't understanding the material or doing as well in the class as you would like to. If your teacher sees that you are interested in getting a good grade in the class, then he or she will do everything possible to help you.

Some people just have a harder time with math than others. I have two sons. One did fabulously in math and science. But had trouble in English.
The other son really struggled with math and science but fantastic in English and languages....
