everyday i see a new person with black hair. Today some girl died her hair black. My hair's brown but is so dark it looks black. I ask them and they say its cool. whats the point.

some do it for personal reasons. I have dyed my hair the darkest black because it looks shinier.

I dyed my hair black because I felt like it. I did the same for red, blond, pink, and purple. (Oh, and I've never been goth, punk, or emo.)
I'm back to my natural color now, which is the same as yours. I only question it when people dye their hair green, because it looks like they went swimming too soon after bleaching. I just assume they did it because it was something new to do.

It is because society is straying from the blonde-look, and turning towards the "exotic" look. Most exotic people have dark/brown black hair. When black hair is long, shiny, and healthy it look very sensual.
