Your manager should have someone train you for this.

It's really simple.
All the other cashiers can do it...
so can YOU!

Don't let it frighten you...roll up those sleeves and ASK Your Boss or resouce person to show you how its done!

I wouldn't let it stop me...get in the know!

YOU GOTTA ASK...it's the ONLY way you are going to LEARN. and it won't be overnight...

~I promise YOU~

Hang in there...

6 months from now, you will be telling yourself...

.I HUNG IN THERE!

: ))

Wow, hello i am newbie cashier also.. ( 2 months) but anyways... the food stamps are easy, they are exactly the same as debit and the computer will tell u what they can and can not charge on it by a F or a T , T is taxable , F is food. when u pick the paying method type the number in that is next to FS total and then the Card will do the test.... Reduced product is hard cause many stores use different methods... as for wic , unless u are there for a long time in our store we can not do them we have to have an older person or a manager come and get them
Wic u need to take your time on , check the brand , size and limit , be accurate , ask a manager several times to show you explain tthat u just don't want to make a mistake...
Hope this is helpful

ps. you really should have been trained better

at my job, wic checks were...

[4][/](amount)[check]

You need to compare the names on the yellow envelope with those on the check. Check sizes and weights of items to make sure they match the exact description on the check. Don't forget to check the dates and have them sign it.

For food stamps...

[FS][Total][FS]

The customer does most of the EBT inputs, but Independence cards don't usually scan. Just type in the card number after they hit EBT on their side, and the register should walk you through the rest.

Reduced items are the same as inputing items with no price.

Or, you can store coupom off the difference.

(scan item)(calculate difference)[Store Coupon](amount off price)[department key]

Good luck with that. It gets easier over time.

go to the head cashier or your manager and request additional training on the weak areas -- you do not want to end up either cheating the firm or a customer!!!

Any answer not given by someone that works for the SAME company as YOU is DEAD WRONG. If your training did not cover this THOROUGHLY, your trainer is INCOMPETENT. Talk to your manager NOW.

Ask your manager these questions, or otherwise you are going to lose the job that you love.
