I tend to lean toward conservatism and I have no guilt or hatred - especially toward "all that is good and decent in America."
Do you think it is "good and decent" to accept a policy of defeat for America in our war on terror? Or constantly trash mouth our troops? Or declare that America has lost the war while our troops are still in harms way? Or not have the guts to simply refuse funding (which was pretty much their campaign platform last November) rather than add pork programs to the troop funding and grandstand with non-binding resolutions and congressional sleep-overs? The current democratic front runners have stated that they cannot assure their constituency that they will be able to withdraw the troops in their first term - that's four years! - and that's quite a turn around from what the democrats were preaching last November.
I can't help but believe that there are liberals in America that have no guilt because they would simply sell out this country rather than confront an adversary - regardless of the provocation or consequences.

I reject the premise of your question. I see no reason for someone to feel guilt simply because they're Conservative.
I also find that Conservatives are the guardians of what is good and decent in America.
Warm regards,
Douglas

It is guilt for being cowardly chickenhawks. During the Vietnam War George W. Bush joined the National Guard to avoid serving in Vietnam. He then missed a drug test and went AWOL for his last year of service. Dick Cheney received five deferments. Trent Lott, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh and many others avoided serving in Vietnam. Now they are more than willing to send other people's children off to fight an ill planned, illegal, and immoral war. They also hate the Constitution which is the foundation of all our laws. George Bush called it just a god damned piece of paper. The Constitution gets in the way of their greedy, evil, and Machiavellian agenda.

I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.
I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.
I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least.
I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.
I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.
I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.
FINALLY, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.

It's not guilt, it's bitterness. Most conservatives feel they got a raw deal somewhere along the line and so they resent anyone who is getting any sort of help. Conservatives are life's losers. Just listen to their country music.
