How about Mike Marshall back in 1974?

And I think the first starter to do it was Nolan Ryan in 1987.

Mike Marshall had 2081/3 innings in 1974 without a complete game. For that matter, he didn't even start a game that year. Set the record for relief appearences in aseason with 106.
