that would explain the difficulty of traveling great distances into the universe wouldn't it?

I've thought that too. The aliens that people describe are very human like. Hairless, two arms, two legs, fingers. Perhaps this is how we will look after another 100,000 years of evolution. Like you said, then you wouldn't have to travel a great distance to get here. You do run into another problem; traveling back in time. This is probably a bigger problem then traveling great distances.

It is possible that aliens are humans from the far future since they can travel over far distances in a short time..Since countless of people always encounter a UFO and nothing major has happened yet like getting murdered by a alien,it might be that these alien like creatures are observing us humans before showing themselves! You never know..They might one day land on earth to share some technology with us!

YES! but that's all going to change in a moment, I mean, well....,
We'll always have been made by the future alien USes

BUT, we did it to give us a second chance right?
its all about to start now, and soon they will send us plans for faster than light speed travel, if not something faster, like teleporting ships.

out there, we will find a new, ever expanding, universe of life, and we must understand our needs and the role we will play in order not to find ourselves in the same mess as the future us, and then we'll probably do it again, and again and again,

unless time actually can break off of this time into its own realm. Only one of an infinite amounts of "other" possible time limes

It's an interesting concept. However, even though interstellar travel seems tremendously difficult to us with our current technology, we at least know it's possible. No one is sure yet whether time travel to the past is possible, although I personally hope (and believe) that it probably is. In any event, travelling to the past is likely to be far more challenging than travelling to the stars.
