We all believe we are conscious and others are aware like us. But there is no scientific, empirical proof of this. You can not isolate a conscious mind from its body and test it empirically. It is always associated with an animal body and thus subject to the interpretation that consciousness is an emergent property of the activity of the animal brain. As such an emergent property this consciousness has no reality in the sense it actually exists as something. To believe it does have reality requires FAITH. Don't you believe you, the aware you, is a reality, is really something? Don't you have FAITH?

Consciousness of self is not a matter of faith -- it is a reasoned conclusion, based on the evidence. It is not necessary to have faith in anything -- and it is evil to do so. Conclusions should ALWAYS be based on evidence.

This reminds me of something I thought of the other day.
It may be useless me saying this because you yourself is not conscious, but, isn't it strange that this 'consciousness' that we feel is connected to what we think of as 'myself'. It's a completely random choice of entity. I thought nothing in the universe was every random. How does this explain that you are you and not me then?
