I hope you have a transmission jack some good jackstands to support the rear of the engine and jack stands to support the truck. The trans provides the rear mount for the engine so the need for the supports under the rear of the engine before you remove the trans. When you go to put it back together you'll need a clutch alignment tool or you'll never get the trans in. And trying to wrestle a transmission out and back in without a good transmission jack will most likely make your orthopedic surgeon very happy. Repairing rotator cuff and labrum tears is quite expensive. A heavy trans will do a number on your shoulders without a jack. Don't even attempt the work without a good repair manual on the truck.

It is almost as easy to pull the engine, I don't now about the 2002. But, its not fun. The transmission has to be separated, which depending on your cross member is located, may be a nightmare. Go buy a manual (i prefer Chilton's)

You are going to have to seperate the transmission from the engine. Unbolt the pressure plate off of the flywheel and bam.. there it is. Just wish it was that easy!
