Which state band the death penalty?

I am writing a paper for school and I am trying to find which state band the death penalty. Does anyone know where I can find information on this. I have been googling (well acutally using ask.com) but can't find it. I want to throw more resources into my paper than required cause I like this subject.

Here's a good place to start - you are looking for states that banned the death penalty. Band is a musical group or something used to hold things together.
