why is an ionic compound noncondutive in its solid form but a good condutor of electticity???? and what other state is an ionic compound conductive???

An ionic compound is a good conductor in solution or when molten. This is because, as the other answerer alluded to, the ions can't move around when the compound is in solid form, but in a solution they dissociate and are free to move in response to electric fields.
