were are all made of energy, and energy is composed of matter. so, if I were to pray to any god it would be sending more energy to that perticular god, and "dwell on your fears and the will manifest" (or something like that). so why would it be wise to believe in the devil?

Actually we're made mostly of matter; energy is just used to get things done. Also, matter and energy are mathematically equivalent, but one is not composed of the other--they are distinct things.

If you're praying to some god, there is no indication that you are sending any energy in any form to it. If you were, the loss of energy would be measurable. And pray long enough and you might just dissipate into nothingness!

"Dwell on your fears and they will manifest" is just a saying, it's been pretty well established that you can't actually make things appear or happen just by thinking about them. Otherwise I'd be rich, immortal and a heckuva lot more handsome than I am now. :-)

I agree it's not wise to believe in the devil, though not for the same reason as you do. As an atheist I just don't believe it's wise to believe in ANY fantasy or mythological creatures.

First of all, we are no more made of energy than matter. They are both two states of existence. Just as solids, liquids and gases are different states of physical matter.
Next, if you believe in God then you MUST believe in the Devil because they are both part of the religious dogma. If you are attempting to give less 'power' to the Devil, then you should do those things that your religion says you should in order to defeat Him.

Who believes in the devil that's my philosophy. You don't want to give power to anything that is negative.
