I think it is fine. My mom named one of my sisters after her. She named her first name after her and her middle name after our daddy.

Just an idea, [I love it as a first name too] but if you have any doubts on it at all, you could always make it her middle name but still call her Christina. The first name would have to be simple then like Mary or Ally. I wouldn't change the spelling, though.

There might be some confusion with both of you having the same name, so maybe you could call her Chrissy, Christa, or plain 'ol Tina.

Congratz on your pregnancy!

Eh... I don't like naming kids after their parents at all, regardless of whether it's the mom or dad. I think it's just a) unfair to the other kids (if there ever are any) and b) it's a little uncreative. I mean, there are billions of gorgeous names in the world, take a little time to find a good, unique one for your daughter.

The only exception to that is if maybe something happened to one of the parents - then it would obviously be a way to remember them.

Or if the kid is named after another, further away relative - grandparents or something.

Christina is a pretty name, but I really think you should find a new one for your daughter so she can have her own identity and everything. Maybe her middle name could be Christina or Christine if you'd like. Good luck with her!

Just think of it practically - would she have a nickname? It could cause a lot of confusion otherwise.

When your name is said, both of you will respond with the constant question of "who?" Or when someone calls and ask to speak to Christina, would you like to always ask which one? And then be refered to as "the old Christina"?

If you don't mind that, I think it's great! Christina is a beautiful name - o, and keep the spelling!

I'd name her Christina. If you're going to name her after you, why not go for it?

You might give her a different nickname - just like John Jr. is Jack or Daniel Jr. is Danny.

But with this Christina, there are tons of great choices!

Ugh, don't do it. One of my cousins did that to her daughter. Everyone just thought that the mom was so stuck on herself that she had to have a little Junior of her own. Maybe use it for a middle name if you really like it, but she will be her own person with her own identity. Allow her to have a name all of her own. If you use it for her middle name instead and she finds as she gets older that she really loves the name Christina more, she can always just use the middle name.

Remember "King of the Hill"? The neighbors were Connie and Connie Jr. They did that a joke on the show, it's just way too wierd to do in real life.

I have the same opinion about this as I do about sons being named after their fathers.... it's a hideous idea... Isnt' there a reason there are thousands of names out there, so they can be used and the same names don't have to keep getting regurgitated and recycled...

And no offense but Christine is a very dated name. Probably very popular when you were born, but now seems old.

well my grandparents did it for both their son and daughter, my day was Jonnie insted of John(Mac)- his dad, My Aunt is Elaine(Lanie), Her mom Elaine. Not a problem as long as they have diff nicknames so make sure you have cute but real nicknames for them. It ha snever bothered either my Aunt or Father, they dont need to have the same middle name I would suggest changing that! But I hope this helps Good Luck! Also I would spell it the same otherwise it would'nt seem right,if you want to spell diff just give her a differental of your name. Like Tina, Chrissi,Crysatal, but if you want your name just spell them the same.

I think it's perfectly fine! If you don't feel 100% comfortable using it then I would suggest using it as a middle name, or perhaps Christine as a middle name?
Just to let you know, there was a family who went to my church and the parent's names were John and Suzanne. They had four kids, and two were named Johnny and Suzanne (after their parents)

I say go for it!!

It would be cool as long as you each have different nicknames. You don't want her to be "Little Christina" do you?
