Jim Edward Brown -- what a talent! "The Three Bells" is an exemplary case of harmonies at their finest.

A little trivia: Jim Ed's sister, Bonnie, was approached by Jim Reeves and asked if she'd like to accompany him on a trip to Arkansas (since the Browns are from there). She turned him down because her child was sick. That turned out to be a blessing: that was July 30, 1964, and Jim's plane crashed on the way back to Nashville.

I heard Jim Ed on an interview on WSM describing not being able to get the sound he wanted for "Morning," so he called his sisters in to do the harmonies. Also, one of those things that you never understand WHY it's stuck in your memory bank, Jim Ed said they used a Dr. Pepper can for the sound effects on "Pop a Top."

I took a great photo of the Browns' reunion at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop one night and presented an 8 X 10 to Jim Ed next time I saw him. He is a fabulous singer and a most gracious gentleman.

Yes I do he is from Pine Bluff, Arkansas. I think he still s ings at his theater in or around Nashville. He sang with his two sisters, Bonnie and Maxine Brown for a long time. I have some of his records. He came to Russellville Arkansas about a year ago and sang with his sisters some of the old songs that used to sing. It was a fund-raising event. He still can sing and so can his sisters. pcanard@yahoo.com
