Recently I got a job offer from a college and once they got my background check completed, took the offer away due to an arrest--NOT a conviction (plus the charges were dismissed in court). Now I started a fabulous job which is a dream job and it is at another school setting up motivational speakers to visit high schools. I already started but they are conducting a background check and I am terrified history will repeat itself. Has anyone started a job, then got fired due to something in their background (arrest, conviction, etc.) What happened and what was it they fired you for that showed up on the background check? Thanks for you story.
One more question: Is there anything you did to save your job if you were about to lose it due to this??

One issue I have seen (but not experienced since I have never been arrested) is that the application often asks if you have ever been arrested amongst other thinks. If they do the background check and find an arrest after you say you have not been arrested you are actually let go for dishonesty. I know a few people that were arrested and found not guilty in court. When they were honest on the application and explained the situation they were hired. Honesty always pays.

No, but one piece of advice, if the application asks if you have ever been arrested and you say no, you told a lie. I have been told that it's best to tell the truth (and the circustances) rather than lie when something is easily found out they might hire you given the truth, but the lie might make you look evasive. I have had one speeding ticket in my life, in 1995, the fine was less than $50 and it still comes up on my background check, I was amazed when I saw it.

That's the IRONY of terms like "innocent until proved guilty".. you are proof that even being officially innocent doesn't protect us for s h i t! All I can say is, if you had the right lawyer and the time and money, you or someone in your position should be able to sue our own Justice system which is really the (JUST-US) meat grinder! For once this kind of B S should be taken by the neck and wrung completely clean of so called "computer glitched" nightmares like this girl is going through! God.. I honestly .. truly.. passionately HATE only one thing in this world.. the Justice system in our F ing country! We should be marching in streets, rioting even when it comes to the constant SLUDGE being smacked in the face of every NON rich person.. (and I'm talking about persons who DON'T commit any crimes).. as a matter of course!
CORRUPT sister.. this system is completely non operative... corrupt. Sorry BIG SMELLY BROTHER is being so mean to you! All I can tell you is, NEVER trust THEM and DO hold a GRUDGE!!!

i've got been in HR administration for some years and that i've got easily under no circumstances heard of absolutely everyone using for jobs while 7-8 months pregnant. there's no longer something you're able to do. that's not likely the business enterprise will placed off the interview - noticeably as you haven't any longer offered any "unavailable" dates. How can any mom circulate away a sparkling born toddler all day? it variety of feels inhumane

Received a ticket for alcohol sale to a minor while working as a cashier in a liquor store, paid the ticket but now have to explain this to every prespective employer. Wal-Mart would not accept this...treated me as though I were a bank robber. I have seen some of the people they hire and I was amazed! I still am honest about it on my apps.
