Hi
Do you mean 2x - 7 = 0?
If that's what you mean, then this is the answer:
Add 7 to the left side, and add 7 to the right:
2x - 7 + 7 = 0 + 7
2x = 7
Divide both sides by 2:
(2x)/2 = 7/2
x = 7/2
But if you just mean 2x - 7, that can't be solved because it's not an equation. I hope this helps you.

You can't, The expression has to equal to something. such as 2x-7 = (some number).
For example:
2x-7 = n; solve for n.
add 7 to both sides: 2x = n+7
divide both sides by 2. x = (n+7)/2
Now n could be any number such as either 2, 4, 5, 7, ....
You could plug in any number for n and get the answer for the equation. 2x-7 = 5. Just plug in 5 for the x = (n+7)/2
so, it would (5+7)/2 = 12/2 = 6.

2x-7 = 2x-7 = 2(x - 3.5)
You do not have an equation to solve.

You don't. 2x-7 is meaningless. However, 2x - 7 = 0 yeilds x = 7/2
added note: it's funny the idiots who give the thumbs down. nice work.
