I'm sick of all the A-Rod haters saying A-Rod is selfish and just wants more money. Who wants to play sports and not get what they deserve. It's always those who don't have who wants to tell people what to do and how to spen their money.People say that he's doesn't deserve all of his money because he didn't get a ring (I thought it was about the team, I guess it is until they lose then it's about A-Rod), well what about u guys who goes to work and slacks at times, but thats different. All the guy is trying to do is make sure that his childrens childrens grandchildren eat, what's wrong with that.
*Can we count the numerous Parks, Learning Centers and Charities that this SELFISH guy has SPENT his SELFISH MONEY on to be built and ect.
*Everytime i turn around him and Jay-Z r holding a celebrity poker tournament.
*If anyone can say they go to work everyday for free and never aksed for a raise or ever wanted one gets 10pts. I mean a honest answer

Their is a lot of money being tossed around NY to not have won since 2000.
Everyones talking about what jeter and the yankees have done in the past what about now.What have you done for me lately. Well now the only 2 reasons the yankees made the playoffs( A-Rod and Joe Torre) r gone and jeter is going to be the highest paid on the yankees r u guys going to boo him when he doesn't make the playoffs next year and say he doesn't deserve the money.
BTW- Firing Joe Torre was the dumbest thing NY has done beside giving Isaiah Thomas an extension and they didn't even make the playoffs in the weak east. Besides he did ONLY help the yankees WIN 4 Rings. Wait the dumbest thing was to hire the catcher Joe managed. Ha ha ha L.M.A.O!

I don't begrudge A-Rod for leaving the Yankees and wanting more money. He's the best player in baseball and deserves whatever he can get.
Tom Cruise makes around 30 million + for each movie he makes. Why doesn't anyone say he's greedy? He's never won an Oscar.

The thing I find ironic though, is that it's the NY fans that are saying "He only cares about money". If thats the case, then there are about 10 other guys currently wearing pinstripes who are paddling the same boat.
Matsui, Giambi, Clemens, Abreu, Damon...what...they went to NY just for Nathan's? C'mon. They all went to NY because NY paid them above-market-value. The Yanks were also considering a substantial extension for ARod in the neighborhood of 27-30 per year. So, if he would have agreed to that, then that would make him not greedy? But if he gets 30 from SF then the story changes?

Dry your eyes NY fans. Get over the fact that not everyone wants to play for the Empire. If anything, I think that this serves as a warning to other superstar free agents who even CONSIDER going to NY. Be prepared to shoulder all the burden, while Rivera, Posada and Jeter get a free pass.

Totally agree. A-Rod has enough money now to make it so I could financially live to be 100,000 years old. Is he after money? I doubt that money is the motivation for him leaving the Yankees. The fans booed him, the ownership is wacky, and they no longer win pennants. He's after respect and winning. Besides, if people just put a small amount of thought into the stupid heads they use to put people down they'd realize they are operating without logic. A-Rod is the highest paid player in the game. Yet he walked away from that contract for another, not guaranteed to be higher. Or even that much.

The point they are making is that the Yankees were much better off without A-Rod.

I as well as alot of people think he robbed the Yankees didn't contribute as much as he expected to the team. The fact that even Yankees fans feel that way and have harsh words for A- Rod should tell you that.

A-Rods a great player. Problem is he only performs good when his team is blowing away another team by at least 6 runs or are losing with no chance of a comback. In other words when it doesn't matter

He is NOT a team player, money withstanding. He does not get along with the players. I don't blame players for getting paid what they do, I blame the owners and our government. They allow corporations to buy those expensive boxes and get a tax write off. This just drives the income up for the owners who pay the players more and seat prices keep going up. The average man or woman has a tough time taking a family to a game as it is so expensive. If there weren't those tax writeoffs and companies didn't buy those luxury boxes, owners wouldn't have as much money to spend on salaries. I don't begrudge what the players make, but it sure is out of whack. A-Rod just smacks of himself and Boras making the announcement during the series didn't help the image of either of them They obviously don't care. Paying over 50% in taxes (state, federal, city in NY and the AMT), the additional money he makes is really not that much, just a lot more for Mr. Boras. Don't compare a company worker making 50 to 200 thousand a year asking for a raise to someone making $25 million a year. Someone making $200,000. a year would have to work 125 years to equal one year salary of A-Rod.

I think all athletes are for a majority selfish, but that is the issue for everything isnt it? Look at this way, if you were a terrible baseball player but could give someone a rest for a game or two, and be paid 250,000 grand would you? that is the problem with the whole damn system, no one deserves to make that amount of money to play a game. There are leagues all over that you dont get paid for, and people play in them, myself inlcuded. A-Rod is a joke and so are all the other professional player that make millions of dollars to play a game.
We spend billions of dollars on that entertainment, to pay those salaries and there are people, children and others in the country that cannot buy food and go hungry yet these damn players make millions.

I dont think that all players are greedy and selfish when it comes to money, but there is a flaw in the system, I know that if I was an owner, I would not pay anyone over league minimum. A-Rod maybe popular, but is he really that good to make 200,000 per plate appearance? Or have Clemens make 25,000 per pitch? cmon.

If A-Rod hit 1.000 with 20 home runs and 50 runs batted in for the post season and the Yankees won, and Jeter batted .000, you would say Jeter's leadership was the key.
