Ok this is the final straw. Check out this article on the lawsuit that MLSE is now facing because of utter and outright, money whoring,greed.http://www.thestar.com/Sports/NBA/article/271764

So basically this guy is forced to spend $70,000 .00 dollars MORE than the $120,000.00 he has already paid for the seats he was promised. In addition to that now MLSE are charging Sports Bars or restaurants $1,500.00 to show the 20 games that will be on Leafs TV. Am I the only one that is now at the end of the rope with these guys?

I know this is the hockey section. I was trying to tie this in to my earlier question about being done with the Leafs. It is all one in the same. The fact that they are raising Leafs tix by 30% next season just goes into how money hungry these savages are.

It's incredible to me what teams can get away with. I feel that the increase in player salaries drives teams to seek new sources of revenue. As long as people are willing to foot the bill, the teams will continue to reach new lows.

This is essentially the basis of my declaration that the Flyers will not win another Stanley Cup under Ed Snider. Why should he feel compelled to get ALL the players he needs to win when he knows that no matter how poorly the team plays, Wachovia Center will get filled 41 times a season?

It makes more sense for an owner to "field" a competitive team than to have a championship team whose biggest stars will demand substantial pay raises. For a true fan, success is marked by championships. For owners, it is increasing the profitability of the team (read: business).

I don't care how much the Flyers or Eagles mean to me, I will NEVER buy season tickets because I think its a waste of money. Not to mention the 30-some year sentence on the waiting list.

Why do you think I keep hoping Balsillie will get a team? I won't give the pricks any more of my money.

Saw the article earlier. There seems to be a hard campaign in the Toronto media to shame the living hell out of MLSE. Every day they seem to have another story about how slimy the whole upper management is.

The sale of ice shavings from the last game at MLG put me over the top.

Hamilton Thrashers. That will be my team.

Damnit, I feel like I am back in the days where the citizens had no say in politics. Essentialy it is the same principle because we have no power to stop that Money Grabbing Whore they call MLSE. Why do they need all that money??? Do you think that they care if leafs suck at hockey? No, because they know that the leaf fans will still go to games and buy merchandise.

Deal with it.

Thw owners of the Philadelphia Flyers (Comcast) charged all commercial establishments an extra $3,500 a month ($21,000 a year) to show games on NHL Centre Ice.

The Vancouver Canucks charged bars in Vancouver and area $5,000.00 for a commercial license to show Canucks TV.

Front row seats at the Staples Centre cost twice as much as at Maple Leaf Gardens.

As LITY said earlier today. Watching live hockey games is a privilege, it's not a right. If you can't afford it, there are plenty of people who can.

I have season's tickets to the Senators, I pay a fortune for them, but once I could afford it, I bought them. I didn;t sit and complain about how much they cost beforehand, I didn't sit and complain about how much money Brydon/Melnyk were or were not making. I just made the decision that I would work harder, and I would get a better job, and then someday I could afford it.

The average salary in Toronto for a family is just under $100,000. So, even the platinum seats are affordable for a season ticket package for them ($16,400/pair).

It's a business, they have the legal right to charge what the market will bear. They have no problems selling tickets now, and based on scalpers feedback, they'll have no problems selling tickets at much higher prices. Why should they stop?

You're done already?! Wow...my words have more power than I originally thought...lol

Yeah, that's pretty ridiculous. I'm surprised that someone that rich would sue over that much cash though. Good for him for setting a legal precedent for the poor people like the rest of us. I hate how Buss made every owner in every major sports realize that they were actually undercharging tickets though. I mean, it does make sense to charge more if people wants to pay more, but it does frustrate the average joe who just wants to take his kid to a game and has to shell out half his life savings for it. Glad to see the status quo is still alive and kicking....
