The heater fan on my 89 acclaim is making a noise. I think a mouse took insulation from inside of the garage into it, because it makes a noise on high, and it blew some pink insulation out. Does anyone know how to get to the heater fan? I hope the answer is not that we have to take the dashboard out. We tried blowing it out with an air hose, no luck. Is there a way to get to it, from under the hood, hopefully.

It should be accessible from under the dash on the passenger side. Under/behind the glovebox area.

When you look down there, you should see the motor with the mounting plate, the mounting plate has 3 screws that hold it in place. Remove those screws, and then pull the motor off (might have to pry it apart with a flat screwdriver). Then you can get to the inside to see what is in there and clean it out.

Go to your local auto parts store and ask them for a repair manual on your car. Most are around $20 and well worth it. It will tell you in detail and probably have pictures as well on removing the heater and or blower motor. Some cars the entire heater has to come out and some the blower can be removed seperately.

YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF, IT IS LOCATED BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE.

THE ONLY PROBLEM THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE IS IF THE COVER FOR THE BLOWER HAS A SEAL AROUND IT, I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU LEAVE IT THERE AND ADD SOME CLEAR SILICONE AS WELL BECAUSE ON SOME OF THESE MODELS THE A/C WILL LEAK A LOT OF WATER AFTER YOU REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR.
