Why are parents so strict on there kids.

They are afraid. They have lived in the world and know all of the absolutely horrible things that can happen to their children, all the crazy people that want to hurt others, and the accidents that can happen. They love their kids too much to lose them, so they keep a tight leash on their kids to make sure nothing bad happens to them. Unfortunately, sometimes fear of bad things can translate to fear of everything and the kids don't get to experience good things. For the most part though, parents just want their kids to learn good things so when they have to face the big bad world, they'll be more prepared and better able to care for themselves.

A childs idea of strict and an adults idea of strict are two totally different things! If a child or youngster thinks a parent is being strict they need to remember that most parents are strict because they care! If they didn't care they would let you do what you want!

They are strict cause they love you but i wouldnt call it strict id call it being a parent and they do not set rules to make you hate them in fact you should hug them and say thank you. i asked the same question when i was 15 even 13 but im 30 now im a parent and i will not allow my kids do go down a distructive path so i have to live a possitive life so my kids will learn from this.
so thank your parents! they love you may sound corny but its true!

Parents that aren't strict are more likely to end up with kids on drugs, having sex and getting pregnant/getting a girl pregnant than parents that are strict. If you want your parents to treat you like a grown-up you need to be responsible in youe actions, like not whining when they ask you to do something, doing things without being asked, like cleaning your room or starting your chores. These are all skills that your parents are trying to instill in you because they are skills that you will need for the job market. If you go to work and get started without your boss having to direct you all the time you will get raises and promotions. The same thing at home. You do these things you get more freedom.

Because they love their kids, Because they put a roof over their heads, food in their tummies and clothes on their backs!
I had strict parents and I love them for it! I am a strict parent to my two boys! And kids are better off with stirct parents then ones who don't care!
Now get off the computer and give your Mama & Daddy a big hug and kiss. And tell them you love them!

Because they love their children and don't want anything bad happening to them. Be grateful that your parents care about you enough to try their best to keep you safe. They're parents, its their job. They actually know what its like to be a teenager and realize that things are worse for their kids now then it was when they were your age. Parents do actually know whats best even if it doesn't seem like it now. Wait till you have children of your own, then you will fully understand their reasoning.

its good to hear that someone thinks their parents are too strict!! they want to teach you responsibility. to be a responsible adult and someday a good parent, you have to have rules and guidelines to go by. they do it because they love you and want whats best for you. maybe you should give them a hug and let them know you love them for that. they are only looking out for your best interest. good luck with your question and God bless. someday you will be glad they were strict, when you have kids and need advice, they will be there.

Argh! I get so annoyed with my parents when they get strict - it's like give me space, I need to breathe!! From their prospective, I guess they're trying to be good parents and stop you from makig the same mistakes they did.

Because they love you and want you to be safe. They know what kind of a world it is out there. Give them just a tiny bit of credit, will you?

Because they love us and they don't want us dead. If they're weren't so strict, we'd all be out getting ourselves killed.
