I try not to look on the face of satan, but when considering the person calling himself President, I feel he is morally and ethically bankrupt; and I say that because he took a very healthy economy, with a budget surplus, and social security on the mend and in no danger; and totally destroyed both. He also for only the second time in history (the other was by T. Roosevelt) invaded a foreign, soveriegn nation and began a war that will have far ranging consequences for the next 4 generations of Americans and almost everyone else in the world.

In addition, the prestige and trust America used to enjoy around the world no longer exists. In fact, America is the most despised nation on the face of the earth, thanks to GWB and Dick Cheney. or as I like to call him CheneyBush and their cohort in crime, RumsfeldRice..

Failure. Certainly. Disaster for all honest, decent, hardworking Americans. Absolutely. Would you like to discuss further.

People are way too hard on Bush. Of course, not every decision he has ever made has been perfect, but many have been good. He has been president during a time where so many controversial issues have risen, and many issues have come about in the country. I'm sure some people may have handled many issues better than he, but I believe he has done better than most people would do in his position. With so many different views in the country, there is no way he could please everyone. If we didn't go to war, the other half of the country would hate him. We might also be faced with constant terrorist attacks. We voted Bush in not once, but twice. And I'm sure most of you reading this disagreeing with me have the right to disagree, but I'm sure if any of you were in office you would not be any better of a job than Mr. Bush. It's also ridiculous that people make decisions whether to support Bush and his ideas or not based soley on their political party, and by the parties of their friends and family. Most people don't even read into the issues. They think- "oh, my friends a democrat, I HATE Bush!", when they may not know a thing about his past decisions or even his party, or even the democratic party. Don't make decisions based on parties or what others think. Read a little, look into the issues, form your OWN individual opinions, and then evaluate the government. Also, I'm sure it's nearly impossible that you disagree with every idea supported by Bush and by the republican party in general and I'm sure you do not agree with every idea put forth by the democratic party. I am neither a democrat or a republican, and I do not belong to either party, I simply look at the facts and make my decisions. I am not defending Bush, and I am not attacking the asker. I am making a point towards all of you who are going to answer the question with something along the lines of, "Bush sucks", or "Being a president is easy"... People need to stop being so close-minded and fickle and look at things more objectively.

President Bush was dealt a bad hand because of the Terrorist attacks on our soil on 9/11. He has stopped other terrorist attacks from happening and as President Bush said before, there are some operations against terror that you will hear about and there are others that you will not hear
about. President Bush has build our military up
from the disaster that Clinton left behind. President Bush has lowered taxes, whereby, we have more revenues, he stands by his convictions and does NOT worry about polls or winning a popularity contest. He does what he thinks will help this country. So far, it has worked. President Bush IS NOT a failure and he is no dummy. He does have a IQ of 129.

9/11 posed a challenge and the US had to formulate a new policies so Bush had an opportunity to be more successful or a greater failure than most presidents. In foreign policy he alienated our allies and misjudged the situation in Iraq, leading us into a unnecessary quagmire, so this part of his policy will be judged a failure. His policies protecting American interest using law enforcement may be judged more successful when classification is removed from the details at some future date. This is ironic since he mocks his opponents for wanting to treat terrorism as a matter for law enforcement and not having a overall strategy. His greatest success was containing the anti Muslim feeling aimed at US Muslim that could have resulted from 9/11.

The people with BHS (Bush Hater Syndrome) are conditioned to see literally everything GW does as a failure. Many of the BHS people are still upset that Kerry and Gore lost. This is their way of coping.
I disagree with some of Bushes ideas, like that amnesty crap for one.
But, as another responder said, he has had events occur during his terms that most other Presidents didn't have to deal with.
No President in my memory has been so blamed for truly ridiculous things as Bush has been.
I think it makes the BHS people seem quite petty and stupid, myself.

That is not a question but an opinion and mine differs from yours. Bush cut taxes, brought us back to prosperity, even after 9/11 and has prevented several terrorist attacks on our country. He is not perfect by any stretch but is certainly not a failure!!

I personally look at Bush and see someone who took charge for the better of our country. Now, if we had elected Kerry, we'd have problems. He always changed his mind about everything and that was his biggest problems. That's why they called him "Sway that way Kerry"... Now, I like how Bush stands strong even though alot of people have such problems with him. If he was that bad, he wouldn't have gotten reelected in my opinion. He stands true to his beliefs. I know I won't get best answer. You'll just choose someone who agrees with you and that was the whole point of the question. Not really a question. You just want to see how many people are on your side, right? So go ahead and hand my thumbs down to me.

Is the glass half-full or half-empty?

Bush, Jr. is facing far more challenges than Clinton ever did.

In my view Bush is doing better than Clinton but far worse than Harry Truman.

Bush wants to create a Texas Methodist theocracy in Washington, D.C., a mixing of state and Church which is well outside of his oath of office (my view).

For the sake of the people of the United States, hope that he achieves the right priorities for all Americans.

Part is based on expectations -- some people have decided to hate Bush and thus find fault with everything he does -- some people unquestioningly support him, and thus see only the good he's done.

The real answer is that your definition of "failure" varies -- but as long as someone is consistent and objective in how they evaluate his actions -- that's the best you're going to get.

Yes, cool question.
I look at my bigger paycheck and I see Bush, who made it happen.
Democrats look at their Welfare Check and see a Democrat in the future, who will make it bigger.
