If your laptop requires a 75 watt adapter and you use a 45 watt (assuming the voltage is the same), the power supply adapter would run very hot, it may not provide the power to run your laptop correctly, your battery may not charge. If your laptop requires a 45 watt adapter and you use a 75 watt (assuming the voltage is the same), you won't notice much of anything. The power supply adapter may run cooler.

Hi. 30 watts of supply power. The 75W is capable of more power output.
