First off, I have been and always will be a Pirates fan and a White Sox fan, but I want to have one more favorite team, so...

I'm either going to be a Red Sox fan or a Yankees fan, but I'm having a difficult time deciding. The Yankees run in my family, the entire one side of my family is Yankees fans, but you have to love the hard work ethic of the Boston Red Sox. I do realize whichever team I choose, I will have to absolutely have the other.
I've hated Boston all my life thus far, but I really like the way they run their team. They're always the underdog, which is really how I view myself. The Red Sox are a more laidback team that loves to have alot of fun, just like myself. And no, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon here. I absolutely love baseball and I feel I have to pick a side here and be a fan of either Boston or New York. If you could help me it'd be great! Thanks!

I can understand your point of view. You should consider the Angels though, they are a lot of fun to watch. Really interesting, aggressive manner of play. Great manager (my opinion the best in the game) with a great philosophy. Disappointing front office though.

Anyways. Having no horse in that race I do have more of an affinity for the Red Sox. I see what you mean about the overall attitude of the team and I also appreciate it. They don't call the Yankees the evil empire for nothing. They have a likeable group of guys.

And in response to "be loyal to the Pirates" the Pirates aren't exactly being loyal to their fans. Getting fat on revenue sharing and failing to field a remotely competetive baseball team year after year after year.

First thing first, calling Boston an "underdog" team is one of the more ignorant comments I've read in the past few days... but that point aside.

Well, do you wish to be a fair-weather fan of a team that has the more success based off of their name value, or a true fan of the sport?

If you are going the success route, then the OBVIOUS answer would be, as much as it pains me to say it, Boston. They have such an INCREIDBLE core team younger than 25, all of whom are signed to deals through 2009. They will be an incredible team to set the pace for years to come. Plus having a line up including Manny (though he may not be a Red Sox much longer), Ortiz, Youkilis, Ellsburry, and Lowell sure doesn’t hurt.

The Yankees, on the other hand, are just going off star power and old money. It's hard to support the team unless you liked them growing up, or just want to follow a team of the past century. They seemingly have low cohesion, and only go after the already established players. The only TRUE shining beacon on the team, and this is my opinion only, so feel free to disagree with me if you must, is Robinson Cano.

If you want to follow an underdog team, or be a true fan of the game, then your best bet is a faction of National League teams. Teams like Colorado, Arizona, Milwaukee, and even Philadelphia have proven to be incredibly resourceful and impressive with what little they have brought to the table. Philadelphia, in particular, is a team that’ll be good, and should perform much better than they have. They have the core, the desire, and the ability, all it takes is that special “Ex-Factor” to put them over the top.

I still am putting a lot of faith in Cleveland. Regardless of how they didn’t make the World Series, I’m still very proud of what they accomplished this season. Here’s hoping Cleveland takes it next year.

A real fan roots for one team and one team only. I find it absolutely baffling how you can possibly even entertain the idea of being a Red Sox or Yankees fan when you claim you're also a Pirates fan. Do me a favor, when the Royals are good again in a couple years - stay far, far away from our bandwagon.

hmmm this is retarded if you like the pirates stick with the pirates. If you like the White Sox stick with them. Don't pick up another team because you want to have three favorite teams. That's not how it works. They don't make multiple team license plate frames. You don't have jersey with three logos on it. Come on now. I have been a Dodger fan since i can remember thorough the good and the bad. And since 88 it has been bad. The only thing your are if you pick another team to be considered in your top three fav's is a wagon jumper.

I don't think you should be a fan of either. People that are fans of 2 or more teams irritates me. Just stay with the Chicago White Sox. They will get better.

How many teams do you have? 29? Well I guess that give guarantees you at least get into the World Series!

This is the stupidest question EVER! You are clearly not a fan of either team! You would know which team you like and which you hate, the fact you don't have a clue suggests your a Yankee fan through and through. They love to scream about 26 Rings! As if that says anything about anything other than they bought a ton of rings! Including the entire Boston team in 1918!

Just stick with being a fan of baseball. If you need other people to tell you which team to be a fan of and which team to hate, then you're missing the point entirely.

yeah, you are kinda jumping on the bandwagon here... but no harm in that.

if you're choosing from those two - i would say the sox for a variety of reasons. utmost - they're going to be good for a while - whereas the yankees are going downhill... and second... it's not the yankees.
