My husband managed somehow to get next week off of work... we have a 2 1/2 year old, and another one on the way. We are hoping to have our first romantic get-away since before our son was born since we have the chance; however, we (like most 1 working parent homes) don't have an abundance of money.

We've never been to Vegas, but always wanted to go. We don't need anything fancy, just a clean comfy place to lay our heads for a couple days, that's close enough to the fun (and the airport - we're flying from California) to not need a rental car.

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated -- it's been years since we've been alone together, and we're kind of clueless about what to do.

There are so many places you can stay and pay very little money, you picked the perfect place for a weekend get-a-way. Now, you may not get much sleep, but just go and have fun!!!!

You can stay at the New York New York for just under $90.00 a night, or Palace Station Hotel & Casino for $49.00 a night, try here and if you book online, you get a better deal or online specials. http://www.las-vegas.cc . Also try the BUFFET, I know
Treasure Island has a buffet (as most hotels do) However, they have a buffet between $12.00 to $20.00 depending on if you're eating, breakfast, lunch of dinner. Often if you book more then a one nights stay, you'll get a better price. And, if you're gambling, you get FREE DRINKS. Try looking into the Montecarlo Hotel, they always have specials.

If you can, try and go see the show "O" - at the Bellagio, it's a little pricey, but worth it. If you pass on that, go over to the MGM Grand and walk around and take a look at the White tigers. Oh, and most hotels have dime and nickel slots, you can sit there for hours and play, and just have fun!

Enjoy your get-a-way with your husband. And have FUN!

Alright, it is your first trip to Vegas and you want a clean, comfortable place to stay but at a reasonable price, right? Now, Vegas has changed a lot and those don't necessarily go hand in hand anymore, but there are still deals to be had. Be careful though, because some of those too good to be true deals usually are. The "new" Hooters casino advertises very cheap rooms but they are actually a run down old motel that is by no means clean. If you are willing to spend $80-100 you should have a lot of hotels that fit the clean and comfortable criteria. If less, you really need to do your research. One website I found which has very comical but honest reviews is Cheapo Vegas. Compare their reviews with the customer reviews on a hotel site like Expedia and match it up with the price you like. I would recommend staying on the Strip to minimize transporation costs (only have to travel to and from the airport). Off-hand, a good hotel for you might be Excalibur. It is not a high class hotel by any means but the rooms are decent and usually on the cheaper side. It is kid oriented with a game room and is in a great location with NY NY and MGM Grand just across the street. Have a great trip!

You may be able to stay at a really nice Casino/Hotel right on the Strip in the middle of things at a very good price. It just depends on the dates. Perhaps start by going to one of the casino company's web sites (e.g. www.harrahs.com), pick a casino like the Flamingo (or Harrahs; they're both very reasonably priced), click on "hot deals" menu, and see what the prices are for which date. Prices may be as little as $65 a night.

You can use sidestep.com to help you plan your trip, but remember that Las Vegas is VERY SMOKEY, very loud, and very non-child (or pregnancy) friendly in the casinos. I personally wouldn't expose my unborn child to that.

Why not head to Santa Barbara or San Diego Instead? No smoking, better environment, and just more mellow for a quick getaway.

Whatever you decide, I hope that you have a great time. : )
