100 plus 10% growth is 110. If you sell 10% of 110, then you are at 99, because 10% of 110 is eleven

Winter = 100
Spring = 100 + (100 x 10%) = 100 + 10 = 110
Summer sold 10% of 110 which = 11 cows
110-11= 99 cows left

Since it increased by 10 percent:
1.1(100) = 110
So 110 during the summer.
Now lets see how much it decreased.
.1(110) = 11

What kind of cows were they and how much hay did he feed them that winter? How many inches of snowfall was there that winter? What month in the summer were the cows sold? What other animals did he have besides cows, sheep and goats? Did they also eat hay? What did he feed the ducks and geese?
