1865 of the real fighting but the feel of the end of it politically and economically is during the early to mid 1870's. Fighting ended at Apoccamutus where Lee surrendered to U.S. Grant in April of 1865. Abraham Lincoln would be assissanted days later at the play that he went to.

technically April 9th 1865 but there might be a few people who are still fighting it even to this day.
