ACLU is an interest group that lobbies for politicians whom they want to be elected so that they could have an influence in government for which they could get favors.

Not really. It is a private organization. However, the ACLU has sort of become a watchdog for rights. When the government starts to violate rights, then the ACLU will help out. The ACLU is capable of doing this because of the checks and balances in the US constitution. Not many countries have something like this.

Heck No the ACLU protects the likes of the pervs of NAMBLA but tries to shut down the boyscouts,the ACLU is looking after themselves not the people they exist only to sue anything Christian they can but protect child molestors and pervs such as NAMBLA.
I`m all for free speech but should be free for all not just who the ACLU backs.

No, it is a private organization with the 'stated' goal of protecting the civil and constitutional rights of all Americans.
However they seem to have become a victim of their own publicity and now instead of protecting the constitutional rights of Americans, they seem to be systematically attacking any displays of Judeo Christian representation in any government institution.
Along with many other knee jerk reactions to situations that if looked at more than a superficial level you would see that discrimination is not hte issue, but common sense is.

No, it is a "private" organization. It is made up of lawyers who work, predominantly, for private law firms rather than working for the government.
