Only one reason I give a thumbs down & that is if the answerer is being rude or mean to the questioner.

Pretty much only for mean, rude, or insulting answers. Anything else is just opinions people are entitled to.
So I pretty much rate by either thumbs up (good answer ... or I just like the person posting - hehe) or no thumb at all if I don't like the answer or think it's so-so, ect.

For something ignorant or obviously slighting or irrelevant. I used to give thumbs down all the time in R&S to the whiny Jesus freaks weighing in on atheist questions with quotes from Scripture "blah blah blah" which often had nothing to do with the question.

I only give a thumbs down if the answerer is really nasty,
ignorant, cruel, or disrespectful !

...if someone was very negative and cruel.....but usually I only spend time giving thumbs up more.....

i only give a thumbsdown when someone is saying something totally uncalled for...etc. Otherwise, I only give thumbsup!

But I don't always do that.

If the person is really disrespectful...Really..If you don't have something good or fun to say don't say anything....Just go to another one....
