The human race, as a still intellectually primitive and immature species, has many flaws. But I would say its greatest flaw, from which most other flaws result, is our lack of rational thinking and our desire to believe--belief in our political dogmas, mythologies, superstitions, and those things we wish were true. Belief in things which are either unsupported or outright contradicted by logic and/or evidence. It is why so many humans still subscribe to political systems that are proven failures, to short term over long term planning, to creationism, horoscopes and faith healing, nationalism, and to the irrational desire to hold power over others.
The fact that we've made it as far as we have is a good sign for the human race. It means we are slowly (too slowly, if you ask me) beginning to outgrow the primitive, barbaric thinking and institutions of the past. I think that in the long term (centuries and millenia) we will have a freer and more prosperous civilization. I am, however, a little impatient to get there....
