Take a look at these direct mail tips at www.myezprinter.com under postcards.

Yes..99% will end up in the trash...if you fail to do these steps :

Have a very professional, authoratative design layout and headline ....home made looking appearance, gives the impression that anything you have to say on the card is of the same cheezy value as the graphics.

Have a worthwhile offer. Direct mail that just makes people "aware" that you exists, usually doesnt get much response....you must give them an incentive to make contact with you...once that happens, the rest of the steps in the business relationship can happen...see, so its kind of important that they respond...do whatever you have to do!, don't be conservative.

MyEZPrinter will give you a free marketing review of any layout you send in, even if you don't buy printing.

I guess maybe they do moreso than not, but it really depends on what the business is and who it targets. Like, if your business is kid oriented and your mailings go out to people with no kids, then it won't help. Most junk mail goes into the trash, but I'm sure they do help businesses more than people think.

They help in building name recognition, but you will need to do other things like calling to follow up, or email campaigns to really get a bang for the buck. Also it helps to do a more targeted mailing so that it is going to the people who may actually be interested in your product.
