i have a mid term paper i gues you can call it due on monday i need some help on understanding the point or prompt.

it says
"the paper should explore a general theoretical principle or issue in the are of psychology. this can be any major topic covered in the text, discussed in class or cleared with the instructor ahead of time. this is my way on ensuring an orginal paper for this course. For example, intelligence or 1q tends to spark a great deal of controversy in the field of psychology these days. it is a hot topic and there tends to be alot of science and opinion about the issues surronding IQ and intelligence. there is an abundance of literature covering general intelligence and IQ issues. in additon one can crtically examine an indivdual theorist suh as Freud or Skinner. There are numerous authors out there who have critically evaluated both of these latter mentioned psychological theroisits"

Unless you specifically get into disorders in your class, I think you should broaden it to "mental health care," citing areas in which treatment centers have succeeded and in which ways they've failed or something along those lines. Most instructors would be fairly bored reading about a disorder AGAIN, unless it is something a bit obscure and out of their culture... oooh that would be a good idea for a fun paper - briefly review some of the culturally-bound disorders and discuss how those are unique to certain cultures and what kinds of things a good therapist should do when confronted with a client with such a disorder. If you get a copy of the DSM-IV-TR, they have a list of those kinds of disorders toward the back.

Was that a topic you covered in the text or during discussion? If so, that would be a good topic. There is a lot of information out there on it as well as theories. If you didn't cover it then I doubt your instructor will accept it. It sounds like you could do a paper on an individual. I always found Yung to be interesting. Personally, I thought Freud was full of b.s.!
