I was married to a beautiful Filipina on 3 Oct 2007 she is the other half of my heart....on 7 Oct I was forced to return to the United States to care for my dying sister. I was not able to bring my new wife with me. I am very romantic. I have written about our special love in my newspaper column ( http://hughs-kojak.blogspot.com/ ) I want to keep our love fresh and alive during these stressful times. I can express myself in English and my wife is very bright and reads English well but I would like to express my love in her language. I am learning Visayan and Tagalog but it is not easy for me. Her family dies laughing when I try to pronounce " NG ". My writting ability is not much better.
Can you guys help me express my love for this beautiful Filipina and keep the romance alive?

Try as I may, I will never be able to express the love and the sentiments you are feeling for your wife whom you are missing you so much (I'm sure!). And therefore, I will fail miserably to even attempt to write in your behalf. But I gladly offer my services as translator for you. I'd be happy to translate to Tagalog or Ilonggo. Of Course. I have a couple of ideas for you. Go with the simple things in life. What you could do is find a website that will help you right your letter in her native tongue. There are a lot of websites out there that offer this for free. Or if this is a little too challenging try writing just a phrase that would mean a lot too her. If you have a university near by I am sure there is a student or a professor to help you if you need. Books will help you as well. Good Luck Friend.

you do have a good grasp of the english language as your replies here in YAP convey that...
hmm... i am very fluent in english and filipino but not visayan. may i ask where she is from in the visayas as that region is comprised of many provinces? i am from aklan. it is part of western visayas so that is the only visayan dialect that i am fluent in. i do understand cebuano though, ilonggo and kinaray-a but i cannot speak them well.
yes, we do can help you express your love for your filipina wife. aguadulce's suggestion is good. you can send your letter via e-mail to any of us and we'll help you in any way we can. you can also post a paragraph each of your letter and we'll be happy to translate it for you.

jongbong's declaration in cebuano is very sweet and would definitely tug the heart of your wife. if cebuano is not the dialect at her place, please email me (or jongbong) and we'd be happy to translate it for you.
